HumanizerEval, October 2026 review

Best AI detectors for humanized text (October 2026)

HumanizerEval's October 2026 review ran 11 AI humanizers on the same 50 texts and scored every output with 6 AI detectors. Here those detectors are ranked by how often the humanized text failed to pass them, meaning it didn't get a human score above 50%.

Disclosure: HumanizerEval is built by the StealthGPT team, and StealthGPT is one of the humanizers it ranks. Its per-sample scores are public, so you can check the results yourself at humanizereval.com.

This is not an accuracy score

The test had no human-written texts, so it says nothing about false positives, and these rates can't be compared with the accuracy figures detector vendors publish. It shows one thing: how hard each detector was for humanized AI text to pass.

StealthGPT's own AI detector wasn't part of the test, so it isn't ranked here.

October 2026 rankings

DetectorFailed to pass
1Originality.ai 5.0API setting: model-5.0
96.0%
2PangramAPI setting: v4
82.2%
3GPTZeroAPI setting: latest
53.3%
4Originality.ai TurboAPI setting: turbo
23.3%
5ZeroGPTAPI setting: default
17.1%
6Winston AIAPI setting: latest
11.3%

Failed to pass is 100% minus the detector's mean pass rate across all 11 humanizers, 50 texts each. A fail is any output with a human score of 50% or lower, whatever label the vendor gave it.

What the ranking shows

Originality.ai 5.0 was the hardest to pass: 96.0% of humanized outputs failed it. The best result any humanizer got on it was 34%, by StealthGPT Super.

Winston AI was the easiest, failing 11.3% of the same outputs. Detectors disagree this much on identical text, which is why HumanizerEval keeps each detector's scores separate. A humanizer that passes one detector can fail another.

Not in the test

Turnitin has no public API at the volume a benchmark needs, so it isn't in the panel. Copyleaks is a candidate for a later review. Neither is ranked here.
