Understanding AI detector results

What a detection score means, why tools disagree, and what to check next.

4 minute readUpdated

Scores are estimates

AI detectors estimate patterns in text. They do not prove who or what wrote a document, and two detectors can return different results for the same passage. Short passages are especially difficult to assess reliably.

When a result is unexpected

  1. 1Confirm that you tested the final text, not an earlier draft.
  2. 2Use a meaningful passage rather than a sentence or title by itself.
  3. 3Review the highlighted language and regenerate the relevant section if the result is not useful.
  4. 4Keep a copy of the input, output, detector name, and screenshot if you open a ticket.

A practical reminder

Always follow the rules of the school, workplace, publisher, or platform where you plan to use the text. StealthGPT cannot guarantee a particular decision by an independent detection service.
