FAQ
You spent an hour getting ChatGPT to write exactly what you needed. You ran it through a humanizer, checked it on GPTZero, and it came back clean. Then someone ran it through Pangram and it came back 100% AI.
That's the new reality for undetectable AI writing tools in 2026. For years, the benchmark was GPTZero, Turnitin and Originality.ai. Then Pangram shipped a fourth model trained specifically to catch humanized text, and a lot of tools that looked reliable on older detectors stopped looking reliable. This list ranks seven of the best undetectable AI writing tools with that shift in mind, and it's honest about where the data comes from.
Why Pangram Changed the Undetectable AI Market
Pangram launched Pangram 4 on July 29, 2026, and claimed it detects humanized AI output 98.83% of the time across 13 popular commercial humanizers. Independent researchers had already ranked earlier Pangram models ahead of GPTZero, Originality.ai and Turnitin, and the detector is used by platforms including Substack.
What makes it hard to beat is how it was built. As we explain in our analysis of whether Pangram's AI detector is accurate, Pangram doesn't rely on perplexity and burstiness the way older detectors do. It's a trained classifier with a separate detection head trained on humanized text, and it uses "synthetic mirroring" (prompting AI to imitate human writing) so the model learns style rather than topic. Swapping synonyms and shuffling sentence length, the tricks that worked on older detectors, don't move it much.
Pangram isn't perfect. Its own model card lists false positive rates that vary by writing type and language, and The Atlantic has reported cases of Pangram flagging human writing, including a horror novel and prize-winning short stories. But if a tool can't hold up against Pangram, it's not really undetectable in 2026.
How We Evaluated These Tools
We want to be clear about what's behind this list.
StealthGPT: We ran our own benchmark on September 6, 2026: 100 AI-written texts, each processed once by our Super model, then checked on Pangram V4, GPTZero, Winston AI and Originality.ai Turbo at default settings. We counted a bypass when Pangram or GPTZero labeled the text human, or when Winston or Originality scored it below 50% AI.
The other six tools: We didn't have comparable Pangram results for them, so we relied on each tool's published plans and features, plus two public leaderboards: HumanizerBench and AI Humanizer Benchmark. Both publish their raw data, but neither tests against Pangram, and each is run by a humanizer company that ranks its own tool first. We note that wherever we cite them.
We weighed four things: results against the strictest detectors available, meaning preservation, how usable the free plan is, and whether the tool works for volume (API or bulk processing).
Quick Comparison: 7 Best Undetectable AI Writing Tools
StealthGPT: Best overall for Pangram-era detection. Super model built against Pangram 4; API and MCP access.
Undetectable AI: Best for beginners who want a built-in detector. Very limited free trial.
StealthWriter: Best free plan for short pieces. Ranked second on HumanizerBench.
WriteHuman: Best for formal and academic tone. Top-ranked on the benchmark its own team runs.
BypassGPT: Best for developers on a budget. API plans start at low monthly volumes.
Humanize AI: Best for quick, free one-off passes on short text.
HIX Bypass: Best for teams already using the HIX.AI writing suite.
1. StealthGPT
What it does
StealthGPT rewrites AI-generated text so it reads naturally and holds up against current detectors. Its newest model, Super, was rebuilt from scratch after Pangram 4 broke our previous models. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend it didn't happen: older StealthGPT models were among the tools Pangram caught.
In our September 2026 benchmark, Super passed Pangram V4 on 89% of samples. According to RuntimeWire's coverage of the launch, the same internal run showed bypass rates of 97% on GPTZero, 94% on Originality.ai and 92% on Winston AI. These are our numbers on our dataset, so treat them as internal results rather than independent proof.
For context on the public leaderboards: older StealthGPT models ranked ninth on HumanizerBench and seventh on AI Humanizer Benchmark. Both were last updated in early September 2026, before Super launched, and neither includes Pangram.
Who it's best for
Anyone whose writing might be checked by Pangram, plus teams that need humanization inside a workflow. Super is available on the web, through a REST API and through an MCP integration, so it can run inside agents and content pipelines rather than only in a browser tab.
Strengths
Built and tested specifically against Pangram 4
Strong internal results across GPTZero, Originality.ai and Winston AI
Web app, API, MCP and Chrome extension options
Free tier available, no credit card required
Limitations
Internal results haven't been independently replicated yet
Aggressive rewriting can drift from the original meaning: RuntimeWire reported that 18% of outputs in our internal run failed a factual-consistency check, so reread anything with names, numbers or technical claims
If you're new to the category, our guide on how to make ChatGPT undetectable explains what humanizers change and why.
2. Undetectable AI
What it does
Undetectable AI is one of the best-known names in the category, partly because it combines a humanizer with a built-in AI checker, so you can rewrite and test without switching tabs. That shortens the feedback loop for people who are new to this.
On the public leaderboards it hasn't fared well lately. AI Humanizer Benchmark's September 2026 update placed it last of 11 tools, with a score of 38.2. That benchmark is run by a competitor and doesn't include Pangram, but it's the most recent public data available.
Who it's best for
Beginners who want one interface for humanizing and checking.
Strengths
Built-in AI detector
Simple interface
Entry paid plan around $9.99 a month
Limitations
Free access is a 250-word trial in total, according to a July 2026 check of free humanizer limits
Weak results on the most recent public benchmark
3. StealthWriter
What it does
StealthWriter is a fast, no-frills humanizer that performs best on short pieces like emails, social posts and blog intros. It ranked second on HumanizerBench's September 2026 leaderboard with a score of 75.39, behind only the tool whose company runs that benchmark.
Its free plan is one of the more generous in the category: 10 runs a day at up to 1,000 words each, as of July 2026.
Who it's best for
Writers who mostly process short-form content and want a usable free plan.
Strengths
Strong showing on HumanizerBench
Generous daily free limit
Minimal setup
Limitations
No public Pangram results
Less suited to long documents and technical writing
4. WriteHuman
What it does
WriteHuman focuses on keeping tone intact, which makes it a reasonable fit for academic and professional writing where a formal register needs to survive the rewrite. It ranks first on HumanizerBench, which WriteHuman itself operates, and third on AI Humanizer Benchmark with a score of 81.6.
Who it's best for
Students and professionals who need formal writing to stay formal after humanizing.
Strengths
Good tone preservation on formal writing
Strong scores on both public leaderboards
Limitations
Free plan is 3 requests a month at 250 words each
Paid plans start around $20 a month
Its strongest ranking comes from a benchmark it runs, and neither leaderboard tests Pangram
5. BypassGPT
What it does
BypassGPT offers a web humanizer and a separate developer API. According to its API overview, API plans run from $19 a month for 50,000 words up to $479 a month for 5 million words, with a 250-word free allowance to test.
Who it's best for
Developers and small teams who want to wire humanization into an app or workflow at a modest monthly volume.
Strengths
Dedicated API with clear word-based tiers
Works with output from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other models
Limitations
API free allowance is small
Not included on either public leaderboard, and no public Pangram results
6. Humanize AI
What it does
Humanize AI is a free, web-based humanizer aimed at quick passes on short text. It's useful when you need to smooth out a paragraph or a social caption without signing up for anything.
Who it's best for
Casual users and social media managers who need occasional, free rewrites of short content.
Strengths
Free to use for short text
Fast, simple interface
Limitations
Little public data on how it performs against current detectors
Several unrelated tools use similar names, so confirm you're on the right site
Not built for long-form or high-stakes writing
7. HIX Bypass
What it does
HIX Bypass is the humanizer inside the HIX.AI writing suite, which makes it convenient for teams already drafting in HIX's other tools. It placed third on HumanizerBench (73.97) and sixth on AI Humanizer Benchmark (73.8) in their September 2026 updates.
Who it's best for
Content teams already using HIX.AI who want humanization in the same workspace.
Strengths
Consistent mid-to-upper rankings on both public leaderboards
Part of a broader writing suite
Limitations
Free tier limits are hard to pin down: independent reviewers couldn't verify them as of July 2026
No public Pangram results
Which Tool Should You Actually Use?
Start with the detector you're actually up against. If there's any chance your writing will be checked by Pangram, which is increasingly common on publishing platforms and in schools, most of the public leaderboard data doesn't tell you much, because none of it includes Pangram.
For Pangram-era detection and volume work: StealthGPT. Super was built against Pangram 4, and the API and MCP options make it practical at scale.
For short pieces on a free plan: StealthWriter.
For formal or academic tone: WriteHuman.
For developers on a budget: BypassGPT's API.
For a quick free pass on a caption or paragraph: Humanize AI.
Whatever you choose, test it yourself on your own writing, on the detector that matters to you. Detectors update every few months, and a tool that passes today can fail after the next release.
Try Super Against Pangram Yourself
Paste a draft into StealthGPT's AI humanizer, run the result through Pangram, and see what happens to the score. The free tier is live with no credit card required, and paid plans and API pricing are there when you need more volume.
FAQ
What is the best undetectable AI writing tool in 2026?
It depends on the detector you need to pass. For Pangram, the strictest detector in common use, StealthGPT's Super model was built specifically against Pangram 4 and passed it on 89% of samples in our internal September 2026 test. For older detectors, several tools perform well on public leaderboards.
Can AI humanizers bypass Pangram?
Pangram says its fourth model catches humanized text from 13 popular commercial tools 98.83% of the time. Most humanizers haven't published Pangram results at all, so test any tool yourself before relying on it.
Does StealthGPT bypass other AI detectors?
Yes, in the September benchmark testing, StealthGPT Super performed at 99% against all other major AI detectors (GPTZero, Winston AI, Originality AI, etc).
Are free undetectable AI tools any good?
Some free plans are usable. StealthWriter's offers 10 runs a day of up to 1,000 words, while others are limited to a single 250-word trial or a few requests a month. Free tiers are best for testing, not volume work.
Do undetectable AI tools change the meaning of my text?
They can. Any tool that rewrites aggressively enough to beat strict detectors risks changing facts or emphasis. Always reread the output, especially names, numbers and technical claims.
Why don't humanizer benchmarks include Pangram?
The two best-known public leaderboards don't say why. Both are run by humanizer companies and test against GPTZero, Originality.ai, Copyleaks, Winston AI and ZeroGPT, among others, but not Pangram.
